Purple State was exhibited in All Abstract at the 311 Gallery from March 5 – 26, 2021.

Purple State alludes to the confluence of the recent, difficult, polarizing U.S. political climate and personal values at stake in our daily lives and my desire to resolve the conflicts between opposing majority parties. It also refers to a U.S. state where Democratic and Republican parties maintain similar numbers of support among voters. The number featured in the piece, “1111,” is seen as an initiative or wake-up call to take action to heal the sharp divisions among Americans in such disruptive and precarious times.
