“Goldbricker, Baker-Miller, and Me” is a limited-edition print based on my Goldbricker sculpture series, which was exhibited in Rome, Italy, in 2023. The left Goldbricker image refers to modern, luxurious, and accessible—yet ultimately useless—baubles that symbolize those who appear industrious but perform no duty, a phenomenon pervasive today. The Baker-Miller Pink that colors the area around the white silhouette on the right was developed in the 1970s to paint cell walls and subsequently reduce the violence of U.S. naval prison inmates. Initially, this approach worked but was later shown to largely fail due to cultural bias rather than an inherent sensory response (Baker-Miller Pink). The print represents a comic attempt to reduce my indignation toward—and somehow negate—the Goldbricker offender. Of course, it does not completely succeed, as the negative space outline indicates that the offender remains.
