About

Dr. Joyce Tsai is the director of the Clyfford Still Museum and an acclaimed curator, scholar, teacher and published author. She served as Chief Curator of the Stanley Museum of Art and Associate Professor of Practice in the School of Art and Art History at the University of Iowa. She trained as an art and intellectual historian and graduated from Princeton University, AB (History, cum laude); as well as from Johns Hopkins University, MA (German) and Ph.D. (Art History and Humanities). Tsai’s first critically acclaimed book, László Moholy-Nagy: Painting after Photography (UC Press, 2018) was a winner of the Phillips Collection Book Prize. She has published extensively in the field of technical art history with conservation scientists at the National Gallery of Art, Harvard Art Museums, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the Art Institute of Chicago, among others.

Bailey Placzek is a curator, researcher and catalogue raisonné project manager at the Clyfford Still Museum. Her curatorial exhibition projects include Clyfford Still, Art, and the Young MindA Decade of Discovery: Clyfford Still in Denver (2021–22); Still: Elemental (2019); and Up/Down: Exploring Orientation in Abstraction (2015). She helped develop the Qi management system, an innovative online resource for Clyfford Still’s art, archive and library collections. Placzek received dual BA degrees in Art History and Painting from the University of Kansas and an MA in Art History from the University of Denver, where she specialized in twentieth-century modern art.

Stephen Wozniak is a visual artist, writer and actor based in Los Angeles. His works have been exhibited in the Bradbury Art Museum, Cameron Art Museum, Leo Castelli Gallery at Brenau University, and Lincoln Center, among others. He has performed on such network television series Star Trek: Enterprise, NCIS: Los Angeles, and the double Emmy Award-nominated television special Time Machine: Beyond the Da Vinci Code, among others. He earned a B.F.A. from Maryland Institute College of Art, as well as attended Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
