Stephen Wozniak interviews celebrated conceptual artist, writer, professor and curator Ken Lum on the May 3, 2022 episode of Art World: The Whitehot Magazine of Contemporary Art podcast. They discuss Ken’s current comprehensive survey exhibition, Death and Furniture, now on view at the Remai Modern Museum in Saskatoon, Canada through May 15th; his new series, Time. About Ken Lum

Artist Ken Lum (b. 1956 in Vancouver, Canada) is best known for his conceptual and representational work in a numerous media, including painting, sculpture, and photography. He currently is the Chair of Fine Arts at the University of Pennsylvania’s Weitzman School of Design in Philadelphia. Lum’s extensive art exhibition record includes Documenta 11, the Venice Biennale, Sao Paolo Bienal, Shanghai Biennale, Carnegie Triennial, Sydney Biennale, Liverpool Biennial, Gwangju Biennale and the Whitney Biennial. His solo exhibitions include those at CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts in San Francisco, Kunstmuseum Luzern in Lucerne, Switzerland, Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam in the Netherlands, and the Vancouver Art Gallery. Lum has also served as a curator for several large exhibitions, including Shanghai Modern: 1919-1945, Sharjah Biennial 7, and Monument Lab: Creative Speculations for Philadelphia. He was keynote speaker for the 15th Biennale of Sydney in 2006 and the World Museums Conference held at the Shanghai Museum in 2010. He is Co-Founder and Chief Curatorial Advisor for Monument Lab, which addresses the transformation of past, present and future public monuments. Lum has published extensively, including a book of his collected writings issued by Concordia University Press (2020) titled Everything is Relevant: Writings on Art and Life, 1991-2018.

About Guest Host Stephen Wozniak

Stephen Wozniak is a visual artist, writer and actor based in Los Angeles. His works have been exhibited in the Bradbury Art Museum, Cameron Art Museum, Leo Castelli Gallery at Brenau University, and Lincoln Center, among others. He has performed principal roles on the network television series Star Trek: Enterprise, NCIS: Los Angeles, and the double Emmy Award-nominated television special Time Machine: Beyond the Da Vinci Code, among others. He is also a published author on the arts and co-hosted the performing arts weekly series Center Stage on KXLU radio in Los Angeles and guest hosts Art World: The Whitehot Magazine of Contemporary Art podcast in New York City. He earned a B.F.A. from Maryland Institute College of Art, as well as attended Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
