The title “16:9 Purpleheart” refers to both the visual aspect ratio commonly found on viewing screens and electronic devices, reflected in the dimensions of the sculpture, and the Biblical passage “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” While as humans in contemporary times we devise technological freedom and physical isolation, the sovereignty of nature and our divine higher power will ultimately lead us where and who we need to be.
